TESTING PROCEDURES:
Make sure the motorcycle is in NEUTRAL!!! Even with the ignition off!
Before you remove an old solenoid from a motorcycle, you can test it.
When 12 volts are applied to the two wires in the plastic plug, the magnetic coil is polarity sensitive.
Applying 12 volts with the wrong polarity will not damage the solenoid, it simply won't work.
If the 12 volts are correctly applied to the two small wires:
If the starter motor turns, the solenoid coil, battery and starter motor are working correctly.
If the solenoid makes an audible clicking noise, but your starter motor does not start, the solenoid is fine.
