Before installing your new regulator rectifier;
Check the AC output of the stator.
Replace all burnt or corroded connections on the stator and regulator/rectifier.
Check and repair any melted cables.
Use high-temperature dielectric grease on all connections.
How do you distinguish between a CDI box with AC firing and a CDI box with DC firing?
If the headlights turn on without the engine running (only with the key in the ignition), it's a DC system. In an AC system, turning on the headlights requires the engine to be running. Another indicator is if the engine runs solely on battery power; it's a DC system. If it runs without a battery, it's an AC system.
What does the voltage regulator do?
The function of this regulator is to convert the alternating voltage (AC) generated by the alternator into the direct voltage (DC) 12V used in the vehicle electrical system and to keep the voltage within a certain range.
The voltage regulator is also responsible for ensuring that the battery is charged and the light bulbs do not burn out.
How do I know if the charge controller might be defective?
- Incandescent light bulbs burn out constantly.
- Headlights become brighter and dimmer.

The inexpensive alternator regulator fits perfectly mechanically and the battery is recharged. One star is deducted for the not quite compatible rev counter signal: it is only 2V, had to readjust the rev counter.
