This cover plate is made from laser-cut 1.5 mm thick 304 stainless steel and has been tumbled to smooth it and give it a rough surface for a better seal. It fits between the exhaust extension pipe and the EGR cooler (see illustration), which is attached to the front of the engine with two bolts. It can also be mounted at the rear next to the turbocharger. The plate should NOT be mounted on the EGR valve itself, as it is a flap valve. Opening it to the connecting pipe would stop its movement and put it into limp mode.
This plate activates the engine management light, but does not switch the car to limp mode. (A hole in it would still cause the EML to illuminate, so it would be pointless). It is slotted to facilitate installation.
This EGR valve fits VW CR engines with 1.6, 1.2, and 2.0 liter displacements. Please check which EGR valve is required for your engine before ordering.
