In 1976, Honda made significant changes to the cylinder head assembly of the 125cc model, switching from a one-piece design to a two-piece configuration.
While retaining the basic architecture of the cylinder, the engineers increased the bore diameter from 56 mm to 56.5 mm, resulting in an increase in displacement from 122 cc to 124 cc.
This revised 56.5 mm cylinder assembly, introduced with the 1976 model year updates, remains fully compatible with previous 125cc motorcycles despite these technical improvements.
