Check the AC output of the stator.
Replace all burnt or corroded connections on the stator and regulator/rectifier.
Check and repair any melted cables.
Use a high-temperature resistant dielectric grease on all connections.
How do you distinguish between a CDI box with AC ignition and a CDI box with DC ignition?
If the headlights switch on without the engine running (only with the key in the ignition), it's a direct current (DC) system. With an alternating current (AC) system, the engine must be running for the headlights to switch on. Another indicator of a DC system is if the engine runs on battery power alone. If it runs without a battery, it's an AC system.
What does the voltage regulator do?
The function of this regulator is to convert the alternating voltage (AC) generated by the alternator into the direct voltage (DC) 12V used in the vehicle electrical system and to keep the voltage within a certain range.
The voltage regulator is also responsible for ensuring that the battery is charged and that the light bulbs do not burn out.
