Description

EGR throttle for VOLVO C30, C70, S40, S80, V50, V70

Please read the description carefully and compare it with the pictures. Thank you for your interest. Note: This applies to diesel engines only.

It is made of 1.5 mm thick, laser-cut stainless steel. Vibration smoothed it and gave it a roughened surface; in addition, all sharp edges were removed.
It ensures smoother throttle response at low engine speeds by reducing exhaust gas recirculation. The improvement can be quite noticeable if the EGR valve is faulty. This plate has an opening to prevent the warning light from illuminating. In Volvos, a warning light may illuminate if the EGR valve is completely blocked (the message "Engine Service Required" appears on the display). This problem occurs occasionally in Ford vehicles. Citroën and Peugeot models, however, do not seem to have any issues with complete blockage, so no opening is necessary for them.

That fits:
VOLVO C30, C70, S40, S80, V50, V70 with the D4204T 1997cc 136HP 100KW diesel engine (see image below)
Their engine code letters are DW10 BTED4/RHR 136 PS (134 hp/100 kW) and DW10 BTED4/RHF 140 PS (138 hp/103 kW). All are available with or without DPF/FAP. A DPF/FAP helps to extend the regeneration intervals, as less soot needs to be captured and the filter therefore clogs up more slowly.

It also fits exclusively for the PSA DW10BTED4 2.0L 16V 1997cc engine (not D)W10ATED4) (known as Duratorq at Ford), as can be seen in the images in the header, installed in:
FORD Focus, MK4 Mondeo, C-Max, S-Max, Galaxy, Kuga,
PEUGEOT 307, 308, 407, 3008, 5008, 607,
CITROËN C4, C5 All with or without DPF/FAP -
Volvo models with the PSA DW10BTED4 2.0-liter 16-valve engine

This extends the time between regenerations, as less soot needs to be collected and the filters therefore clog more slowly. Please refer to the information for Volvo vehicles.

If the indicator light was already illuminated due to a stuck valve before the cover plate was installed, it may remain illuminated because the valve's open or closed state is monitored via the electrical connection. Unplugging the power cord will not resolve the issue, as this will most likely cause the device to enter emergency mode. Installing the cover plate should not trigger emergency mode.
Please verify that this is indeed the engine pictured, as the later engine (Euro 5) has a completely different EGR system with a throttle valve at the front of the engine, under the intake manifold. The oil filler cap is located on the left side of the engine, not on the right as pictured. I am offering these engines for sale.

Does NOT fit the 8-valve engine (No. 110934076443) or the 16-valve engine DW10ATED4 with aluminum intake manifold.

The easy-to-install cover plate fits between the EGR valve and the exhaust gas recirculation pipe. The EGR valve and recirculation pipe do not need to be removed. Installation takes only 10–15 minutes. Remove the engine cover (pull it forward and lift it slightly). Loosen the two nuts (but do not remove them completely), pull the EGR pipe upwards, insert the cover plate, and tighten the nuts again. No gasket is installed from the factory. Access can be difficult on some vehicles – it was particularly tricky on my 307 136, as the plate was located approximately 200 mm below the windshield, but it still only took me 10 minutes. Hence the slots.

Advantages of limiting the exhaust gas recirculation valve
1. Cleaner engine oil contributes to a longer engine lifespan.
2.The turbocharger responds faster and at lower engine speeds.
3. Prevents soot deposits in the intake manifold and on the valves, which reduces performance.
4. Smoother driving behavior
5. Less smoke, therefore easier passing of the main inspection (UK).
6. The DPF stays clean for longer.

Does NOT fit the 2.0 Mondeo FORD ZSD engine with the EGR valve at the bottom rear of the engine (exhaust side) or the Transit FORD engine with the EGR valve at the bottom rear or at the end of the engine above the gearbox.
Also NOT suitable for 2.0 liter Mondeo and Transits (FORD ZSD engine) with the EGR valve at the front of the engine.
