Description
EGR valve blanking plate suitable for Ford Euro 3 Transit Connect Focus Mondeo 1.8 TDDI TDCi
Thanks for watching.
It is made of 1.5 mm thick stainless steel. It has been tumbled to smooth it and give it a rough surface, which also contributes to a better seal and removes any sharp edges.
It ensures smoother acceleration at lower RPMs by preventing exhaust gas recirculation. If the EGR valve isn't working properly, the improvement in these engines can be quite dramatic. The check engine light shouldn't illuminate (I've never had one reported), so no hole is required, which is why I haven't included one.
A slot has been incorporated to facilitate installation. Simply loosen the two screws, slide the plate between the intake manifold and the gasket, and tighten the screws. All pipes and the electrical connector (if present) remain in place. The end of the exhaust manifold can also be fitted (unless it has the ring clamp connection that some do), but the screws may be rusted.
This only fits the Euro3 EGR valve type shown above with vacuum operation, specifically in:
Ford Connect 1.8 TDDi TDCi from 2002 onwards. Please note that the Euro 4 standard was only introduced in 2005, but some Euro 3 models were still being sold at the beginning of 2007.
Ford Focus MK1 1.8 TDDi TDCi 1998-2005
Ford Mondeo MK2, MK3 1996-2006

3. Prevents soot deposits in the intake manifold and valves, which reduce performance.
4. Smoother driving and more frequent stops, better fuel economy
5. Help pass the MOT, as black smoke development is tested for
